Child Rights

Children like Kak Da, 10, in Cambodia, have the right to food, education, play and love like all children in the world.

The Global Food Crisis denies children their basic right to adequate food and nutrition.

The Global Food Crisis also increases the chances of kids being forced into child labour and taken far from their homes (known as "human trafficking").

Increasing food costs mean families have less money to feed their children. Climate change has forced farmers off their land and into the cities, where there is often little and/or underpaid work.

When children have to work they can't go to school and are often doomed to remain poor for the rest of their lives. Many child labourers are also going hungry because of the Global Food Crisis.

YO, FOOD IS MY RIGHT!

Children have the right to food, education, play and love!3 Child labour, human trafficking and the Global Food Crisis violate children's rights. Children are the most vulnerable when times get tough.

Article 27 of the United Nations Child Rights Convention states:

"Children have the right to adequate food, nutrition and healthcare needed to grow and be healthy."
