As a child sponsor, the difference you'll make means more than you think. You'll help to create lasting change in children's lives by transforming the world where they live. By helping to meet basic needs for things like clean water, healthcare, education,

improved farming and income opportunities, you'll help to break the poverty cycle. And you'll give your sponsored child and other children in the area the chance to reach their full potential.

Help to create a happy healthy future for children

"I nearly lost my son to starvation"
- Anastasi, Pacifique's mother

When Pacifique was a small boy, his mother Anastasi feared she might lose him. As a widow, she struggled to grow enough food to provide Pacifique with more than one meal a day.

Thanks to child sponsors, Anastasi has learned how to grow more food, earn money and stand on her own. Pacifique, now aged 11, can look forward to a happy and healthy future.

Australian child sponsors are helping to make a world of difference for children in need.

In this video, child sponsor Andrew sees footage of his sponsored child Dodik walking for the first time after treatment for paralysis - treatment made possible through child sponsorship. Andrew reflects on what it means to know his support has helped to make life for his sponsored child so much better.

How you can make a difference that works...

When children like Pacifique have better access to food it can mean...

  • They are less vulnerable to illness
  • They are less likely to become malnourished or have stunted growth
  • They have the chance to play, learn and reach their potential
  • They are healthier and have more energy
  • They worry less about where their next meal is coming from

Monthly sponsorship

For less than $2 per day, or $48 per month, you can help provide children in need with access to the basics and change their future.

Through child sponsorship

Help to change a child's life...

Experience has taught us that the best way to change a child's life is to transform the world they live in - their family, community and the local area. As a child sponsor, your support will help to transform a child's world by addressing essential needs.

...by transforming the world they live in.

World Vision works with community groups and local governments to deliver development projects that are tailored to meet local needs and that can improve the wellbeing of all children and families living in that area, long term.

These lasting changes give your sponsored child and other children in the area the chance to grow into adults who can provide for themselves and their own children and contribute to their community.

Do you know where World Vision's funds go?

We work hard to make sure that all funds donated to us are used as efficiently and effectively as possible to bring maximum impact to children and communities in need.

The figures below show how World Vision Australia's funds were spent in 2012 and refer to all funds received by World Vision Australia including gift in kind donations and government grants, not just those received for Child Sponsorship.

Our work (78.8%)

Funds to our international work (73.7%)
Our domestic work (1.1%)
Community education (1.4%)
Our work's support costs (2.6%)

These funds go to support and carry out programs that benefit children and their communities. This includes our work here in Australia with Indigenous communities and our KIDS HOPE AUS. mentoring program. It also includes public awareness campaigns to change systems and policies that contribute to global poverty and injustice.

Funds bucket

Administration (9.7%)
Fundraising (11.5%)

Administration is essential to the day to day running of our work, and includes operating our supporter service centre, and our finance, administration, HR and management teams. Fundraising is important in generating donations and gaining long-term supporters so that our work can continue.

For an outline of how World Vision Australia used funds in 2012, see pages 117-137 of our Annual Report 2012.
