Target 350 to support a fair and binding global deal
Studies are showing that if we let carbon in the atmosphere top 350 parts per million (ppm), we can't have a planet "similar to the one on which civilization developed and to which life on earth is adapted."*
Right now, we're at 390 parts per million: which is why the Arctic is melting, why drought is spreading across the planet, why people are already dying from diseases like dengue fever and malaria occurring in places where they've never been seen before.
The good news: we have a target to aim for. When the world's leaders meet in Copenhagen in December to reach agreement on a new climate treaty, we need them to pay attention and put forward a plan that gets us back to a safe level.
So here's the plan. On 24 October, International Day of Climate Action, get involved in, or organise an action, to make 350 the most visible number everywhere.
Support the 350 campaign on 24 October - join a local action or register your own, and let your friends, family, neighbours, colleagues and student body know all about it.
What's 350?
350 isn't one organisation, it's a global network connecting people in every corner of the planet. The 350 network consists of over 200 organisations around the world, including World Vision.
All over the world, people are uniting for global climate action on 24 October.

How will we get there?
To achieve 350ppm, developed nations including Australia, must make emissions reductions of at least 40% below 1990 levels by 2020. The Australian Government is currently proposing a maximum target of 24% below 1990 levels by 2020. Not nearly good enough!
Why is World Vision getting involved?
We all need to get involved in this issue. Climate change is happening now, and affecting those who are least able to combat it. This year is the best opportunity yet to show our leaders that we want change. We want the tough decisions to be made on our behalf before Copenhagen in December.
If you don't speak up for those living in poverty through World Vision and 350 - then who will?
Sign up and tell world leaders you're ready - for "an ambitious, fair and binding global climate deal."
